Ocean Shores Fire/EMS

Located at 676 Pt. Brown Avenue NE, is staffed by ten career and 24 paid-call personnel. The station is manned 24 hours a day by a minimum of two on-duty personnel with 911 emergency number access. Twelve "Volunteers In Prevention" help perform business life safety inspections and staff the office. Fire protection is provided by two fire engines, one 85-foot aerial platform, and a brush engine. An automatic aid agreement with Grays Harbor Fire District #7 provides additional assistance when needed. Fire insurance ratings for both residential and commercial property is Class 6..

Emergency care is provided by three advance life support (ALS) ambulances and one ALS equipped fire engine. Six 24-hour career personnel are paramedic trained, and two are ALS technicians. A number of paid-call personnel are emergency medical technicians and five are ALS technicians.

The department also has an activity group of approximately 60 community emergency response team (CERT) members that are training to assist during major emergencies.

Ocean Shores Public Library

The Ocean Shores public library is city owned and operated with a circulation of more than 51,800 books. Internet access and internet classes are offered to the public. The library was chartered in 1972 and is located next to the police station on Pt. Brown Avenue.

Ocean Shores Police Department

The department, located south of the city gates at 577 Pt. Brown Avenue NW, is staffed with 14 commissioned officers, two full-time administrative records clerks, and a code enforcement/animal control officer. The fleet consists of 14 patrol vehicles, 13 of which are four-wheel drive, and three are unmarked. Officers are assigned, in addition to their regular patrol functions, as surf rescue team members, DARE officers, boating officers, commercial and residential security advisors, and liaisons with various community groups. The code enforcement/animal control official is charged with the enforcement of select zoning ordinances as well as the collection and care of stray domestic and nuisance wild animals. The police department operates a department-wide community policing operation and also has a large volunteer organization that staff several programs such as property watch, night business district patrol, office support, boat patrols and a summer beach information trailer. Patrols are provided 24 hours a day and are dispatched by a central county Enhanced 911 center.
